Business Development

Information is the key to help manage your business affairs that support your talent in music programming and assure commercial success. DJRN can provide assistance with contracts, sales techniques, computerization, insurance risks, employee/contractor issues, purchasing equipment and software, and locating other professional services.

Professional Standards

DJRN has been committed to helping set standards for mobile DJ activities since it's beginning. Through many hours of discussions and meetings, we have developed guidelines for business protocol, for ethical  practices and a system of responding to consumer complaints.  In short, we are not here to interfere with our members, but to filter out DJ operators that do not meet our business standards. Our standards and ethics committee can vote to withdraw membership (or registration) from any company  that does not meet association criteria. This is the only practical protection from unprofessional operators that can be enforced at this time.

Insurance Programs

It is often difficult for mobile DJ's to obtain affordable liability and property insurance. Group insurance plans for DJRN members are available at very economical rates. Liability insurance is a requirement of DJRN membership. General liability insurance is necessary to protect you and your customers  from the unexpected accident or injury. Our group policy provides $2,000,000 general liability insurance to any member in any state. Rates are determined by exposure class according to membership classification.

Our new property loss fund is an "in-house" member owned business property protection plan designed to help control costs and return profits to our members, the fund owners. The coverage type is replacement cost based with certain exclusions that are described in our membership literature. This program is available anywhere in the country. There are two plans to choose from depending on your personal needs.

DJNET ® Advertising

Our co-operative advertising program has assisted thousands of consumers  locate qualified DJ's since 1986 and has saved our advertising  members thousands of dollars on advertising costs. Information received from consumers is shared with advertising members. A portfolio of leads is accumulated over time. Best of all, we launched the DJNET ® BBS in January 1994 for our members that also allows advertising members to `download' confirmation lists by computer when it is convenient. It's an absolutely unique program that has a win-win-win outcome ... and is still growing!

Education

Tips and tricks of the trade through our newsletter, the DJNET BBS, and informal meetings will help you make decisions and ward off some potential disasters. More than that, we talk to a wide variety of consumers every month, and report the trends and concerns of your potential client base. We are one of the few organized sources for referrals of mobile DJ's and the only functioning professional organization of it's kind that is devoted to helping consumers learn how to choose a DJ for their event.

REQUIREMENTS OF DJRN MEMBERSHIP

1 - A sample of your written contract and 3 verifiable customer references.

2 - A minimum $500,000 general liability certificate of insurance.

3 - A completed and signed application along with payment of initial fees.

4 - An agreement to abide by association rules and conditions of membership.
